Continua from AC Noises is a sampler and multi-effect pedal perfect for creating ambient textures that respond in real time to your playing. With an always-on buffer constantly listening in the background, Continua captures your playing and resets its sampled sound in response to your playing amplitude, allowing you to strum through chords with immediate ambient accompaniment. Beyond merely capturing fragments of your live audio, Continua offers numerous ways to shape and expand these sampled tones, including tempo controls, repitching, sustain, freeze, glitch effects, downsampling, filtering, and more. Your dry signal can also enter into the fun, with flexible routing options for keeping things clear amidst the haze of mangled audio or processing the dry signal through Continua’s multi-effects.

Despite the complex world of sound it can create, controlling Continua is quite simple. The Mix knob adjusts the balance of dry and wet signals. Beyond this, the next three knobs adjust behavior of the dynamic sampling, with Tempo controlling the speed of repeats, a Pitch knob that introduces octave, fifth, and random pitch shifts, and finally Sustain, which controls how long repeats will iteratively evolve before decaying down to silence.
