Puremagnetik Etches Soundscape Palette. culpt luscious soundscapes using complex timbres and tape loop-style sampling all with Etches from Puremagnetik, a unique synthesizer designed around quickly and intuitively creating dense walls of cinematic sound. Unlike most traditional synthesizers, Etches uses touch plate-based controls for crafting unique sound palettes, giving you dynamic control over how the sound moves and evolves in real time. The pitch of your sound is controlled by the large touch plate at the lower portion of Etches, providing a smooth surface to drift and glide across for melodies that feel effortlessly fluid. The key and scale of your sound is defined in the Tuning section, which gives you access to eleven different scales to choose from.

Next to the pitch touch plate sits four individual smaller ones, each of which are the main source of Etches dynamic and creative control. These plates are sensitive to the amount of surface area covered, increasing amounts as more pressure is applied to them—this is particularly powerful with the first control, Swell, which affects the volume of the signal, increasing as you press more into the plate. The Invert touch plate introduces chaotic modulation into your patches—drifting the values of several parameters all across the synth to create sounds that feel organic and unpredictable.
